ooc: haha no prob, and remember the Watcher doesn't cut breaks; he's sworn to observe but never interfere
(back-tracking a step) Rosa desperately tries scrambling to her feet (needs GoB PR Agil FEAT ): [dice=100][rand=58420384588829921545853325321514596809367486447436803598300720605]

SUCCESS! and even with just one shoe! Rosa, fearing for her life, manages to regain her footing and struggles with all her might against the web's pull! (Strength FEAT... oh boy. Nothing less than a natural '100' will do lol): [dice=100][rand=1001343396716825742922292464210668293832896043875968568043789915]

ooc: Nope despite being on her feet, the spider's pull is way too strong Hmmmm... okay, an interesting (and potentially devastating) predicament here. The arachnid yanking Rosa the remaining distance and attempting to bite her is simultaneous to Torch's fire bolt at full power... in effect putting her in direct path of an AM intensity thermal blast. Both actions happened at the same time, so there's no way Torch could know. Hmm. Let me think this one over as this is pretty significant...

okay. The verdict is in... Knowing that Torch's and spider's Initiative were essentially tied, it is highly likely a Change of Action would've been considered in the Pre-Action phase, especially given the circumstances. Pre-Action phase is the step just before Active actions and used for Passive things like Dodging, Evasion, Blocking etc., a timer going off on a bomb, or such things as Changing Actions after an unfavorable Initiative result (definitely the case in this situation).
Because Rosa's Initiative is actually the highest this round, her actions don't affect anything; so we'll roll things back a step allowing Torch's 84 result (74+10 min Karma) to count towards a Yellow FEAT Change of Action (pg 14, APB). Any FEAT/action he changes to, will be at -1CS for the round. The spider gets its action simultaneously as declared.
Basically, Torch was about to let loose all infernal devastation BUT saw at the very last second, Rosa yanked up and into the firing blast zone; Torch cut the blast just BARELY in time (spending 10 Karma fo insurance), and can perform another action but at -1CS. Rosa is yanked violently upwards to the low-hanging ceiling of the short corridor's end, where the upside-down arachnid eagerly pins her arms with its spindly front legs. Pulling her near to its toothy maw, it attempts to sink its slender fangs into the nape of her neck... (needs a GoB, TY attack:) [dice=100]ooc: let me know what Torch's changed action is going to be plus any die roll, karma use etc (if appropriate); he can easily reach the spider this round as he was less than 10 meters from it, and hangs at roughly 7-8 feet.
btw...now this may definitely count as having 'Uatu the Watcher' intervene and cut you a break... or at least carefully consider all options

Torch smites upward with one well placed swing, exploding the bulbous enemy into pieces (-11 Karma spent for IN Green result; also assuming he's not 'pulling punch'), its entrails splattering everywhere. Torch's crushing strike slays the beast convincingly… but not before its two large fangs sink deep into Rosa's neck!
She inhales strongly, her eyes suddenly growing wide, and her face drains a sickly pale blue. As Torch's death strike to the spider frees her, her body crumples limply to the floor, her mouth frothing over like a rabid animal, her eyes fixed in a blank stare.
Rosa is not moving.

ooc: I blast her with my anti spider poison gun ;D ....hmm no first aid or med skills for either of but there is a slim chance...
Have Torch turns back into Toby knowing that his power is no longer needed but anothers is..Toby looks over the body of Rosa and sees the wound on her neck...the spider! he (spends Karma to do a power stunt and do a Eldritch purge of the toxin from her/and stabilize/heal her.)
for a mage to perform Power Stunts using his spells is reduced. It costs an "ordinary" super hero (if there is such a thing) 100 points to attempt a Power Stunt. It costs a mage only 10 points of Karma if the stunt uses Personal or Universal energies, 50 points if using Dimensional energies.- taken from the APB
I will spend all of Toby's for the Power Stunt and then give sucess to the magical heal/or first aid attempt
Hope this works ;D

Converting Eldritch energies to draw properties of harmful toxins from Rosa while leaving beneficial fluids intact, seemed a daunting, time-consuming task, Toby realized in vain. Maybe with extensive research on 'test' subject animals first, he might figure it out, for surely there would be miscalculations, complications, failures; but he just didn't have the luxury of time. Not with his friend's precious life in the balance. What he really needed was to get her to a hospital, get her to people who could treat her - fast. She did have a trace of breath, slow, barely detectable, just like her pulse. Rosa would be dead soon. Even if he called Torch to help carry her back up to the main house, then went to find Adam, and call paramedics, she would surely expire before they arrived at the somewhat remote and isolated estate. He was running out of time. Then he remembered the name. Watoomb.
His adoptive father once told stories of a great mystic being, Watoomb, an entity on par with angels and demons, a being of legend. The late West tried in vain to summon the being, to bend its will to his control; but to no avail. Watoomb sensed the evil of West's intent and refused to offer him any aid, or pay him any attention. Rosa spasmed violently. Her organs would soon fail after the initial state of paralysis wore off. Toby had one chance -- he needed to conjure Watoomb's appearance, then somehow plead for assistance in transporting him and his dying companion to the nearest hospital, through Teleportation or some other magical means. This risk was high. The powerful entity did not know Toby. But the stakes of inaction, were higher. ooc: Ruled that Eldritch Neutralize Poison was beyond Toby (just didn't seem to relate to casting Bolts and Shields). But in sticking w/the magic theme, he can try to get Rosa to someplace and to someone who can treat her nearby, only he needs to invoke the powerful dimensional being, Watoomb, in order to do so, having never done so before.
I'll take his '93' roll as his success in reciting proper conjuring incantations, thus opening connection to Watoomb's realm and getting him to take notice. BUT since this is their first 'meeting' you need to give me the actual incantation recited to call on him.
(some examples here: www.marvunapp.com/Appendix4/watoomb.htm)
note: a cost of 50 Karma also applied

ooc: I figured power stunt was a long shot... OK plan "B" Toby clears his throat and his mind, not knowing any spells, begins to speak out of his backside: "uh..great and Wonderful Watoomb! ! An innocent needs help from certain doom." He thinks to himself "ugh, that was really bad" he hopes it was enough. He pauses and nothing seems to happen. "Please, sir..." He falls to his knees and begins to sob. "Please..Watoomb..I will give my amulet to you. I will give you my life..just help her. It's not her fault. I just don't know the words..if I did I would say them a hundred times! " OOC: going for the OSCAR-needless to say-oh great a wonderful GM I throw out my last bit of Karma and the kitchen sink for little Rosa

There is a loud and sudden ** krrAAH-A-THOOOOMMMM!! ** and a blinding white light from inside the chamber/altar room behind Toby and Rosa Down on his knees and holding the poor girl cradled in his arms, tears streaming down his face, Toby turns squinting to face a towering brown-skinned nude figure with infinitely long, flowing white hair and beard "Who DARE speak the name of the all-powerful WATOOMB, whimpering for his divine aid... and to such a spoilt and vile place AS THIS, no less!?!
Be this some jest, or some elaborate, deceitful and FOOLISH scheme attempting to enslave Watoomb ONCE AGAIN!?!" [/blockquote] Toby's jaw hangs open in awe... and in fear...
